Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What made you want to become an author?
When I was a little girl, my parents gifted me a book (that I still have to this day) called The Ballerina Princess. It was one of those books where you could have your name printed in it as one of the characters. With such a unique name like mine, it was the first times I had ever been able to see my name on something like that. From then on, I used to write all the time. It started as journals/diaries and eventually turned to poetry and stories. The stories I write are a way for me to share experiences and lessons I've learned.
Q: What's your favorite color?
Blue, blue, and ohhh did I say BLUE?! Navy blue is one of my favorite shades of blue, but I love the color in all different hues.
Q: Did you like to read as a kid?
No. I could read very well, but I didn't have a lot of books that I enjoyed reading. I found my love of reading once I was older and once I was older and began working with kids.
Q: What kind of books do you like to read?
I love reading children's books of course. Some of my favorites are Dr. Seuss books, The City of Ember, The Mysterious Benedict Society, Frindle, among others. I really love books that are movies. I enjoy comparing them.
Q: How do you come up with your characters?
Every name is a name of someone I know. It could be a family member, a friend, or someone I met in passing. I like to use their names as a way to pass them along. The characters are completely made up, but the names are actual names.
Q: Who is your hero?
My Mother, hands down! She is the strongest person I know and truly believed that I could do and be anything I wanted to if I put in the hard work and effort. That mentality is what drives me and has allowed me to fulfill my wildest dreams.
